I use Desktop for Mac 6 for running one or two products that are available only for Windows. Tired of fumbling around, mostly because I really don't "get" some of the concepts (Virtual Machine, modes, etc.), and because it has been a long time since I had to navigate in a Widows environment. For instance: I can't figure out how to save a .docx document from Windows Word, so that I can open it in my iDisc documents folder without having to go back into Parallels and Widows (assuming one can do that, in the first place). Same goes for opening documents or .pdf files from Parallels that are stored on my Mac HD, or in my iDisc folders. In any event: is there a relatively easy to follow how-to manual for dummies like me, that do not require an advanced tech support certification to muddle through? Thanks.

By default you should already have your "Home" folder being shared, so you could just save files there and you will be able to access files inside the VM or from Mac OSX. If you want to choose another folder to share try this:

NOTE: I'm currently on Parallels 7, but hopefully this configuration is located in a similar place on Parallels 6.

    1) In your VM list right-click on your VM and choose Configure..
    2) Click on the Options tab
    3) Click on the Sharing item
    4) Click on Custom Folders...
    5) Add the folder you wish to share
    6) Exit Configure and start VM

The "Home" folder and any Custom folders will show up inside the Parallels Shared Folders network share.

    Thanks for the suggestions

Your reply and suggestions were very helpful and seem to have done the trick. Any suggestions for getting a "Parallels Desktop for Mac for Dummies"-type manual? Thanks, again.
