I am using Parallels 7 for the Mac, installed MS-DOS 6.22 ok. I want to access the HD of the virtual machine with Parallels Mounter. When I click to open with Parallels Mounter, I get a message "Unable to get write access to the virtual hard disk. Do you want to open it in the read-only mode?" Yes - I did get info and I have write and read permissions. I also ran disk utility to correct permissions. I saw other posts of this in the forum from about a year ago but no definite way to resolve it. Any advise appreciated
I am getting inconsistent behavior. Initially I would try it and get option for read only access under ALL circumstances [on, suspended, or shut down]. I just tried again. Now it is giving me the option to modify under suspended mode only with the warning that you may render it non-operable. If I choose to go ahead and attempt to modify under suspended mode, I get a second message I am able to read only. When I try to modify on machines that are OFF, I still only get the read only availability. The weird part is a few times when it seem as though it was going to work, nothing ended up happening. I thought the drive was supposed to mount in the finder window on the left. I have never been successful in mounting the drive yet.
Ok. Now I recreated the MS-DOS image for fun [not], I control click to open the pvm parallels file with parallels mounter and my desktop flashes like when you are launching a program, except nothing launches and I see no mounted disk.
Same problem - disappearing dos HDD when mounted. I experienced the same problem. Can't mount the .hdd anymore. When I do so it's gone, but it's still busy if you try to start DOS, so you have to restart the computer to release it. Is there any other way to like, connect to your files on the mac, and install programs in DOS?
