Will converting Bootcamp for Virtual Machine use affect its performance?

    Hi

Although generally I'm getting good results, I'm finding 3ds Max performance a little slow as a Parallels VM install. I created a Bootcamp partition and Installed Windows 7, and it runs a little better. It would be nice to be able to exchange files with Bootcamp when I'm on OSX, so I will make a VM from my Bootcamp. Question: Will this affect the native running of my Bootcamp install at all when I boot up in to it?

    Thanks

Running a VM, whether it's in a virtual disk or from a Boot Camp partition, will always be slower than running native Boot Camp. When you are booted into Boot Camp, your Mac is a PC and has full use of your computer's resources for doing that. When running in a VM, while the actual resources are used, they must be shared with running OS X, affecting performance. I haven't seen any actual comparisons between the two (which would be useful to see).

Thanks for the clarification. When I choose to use my Bootcamp partition for Parallels Desktop, it seems that it is modified somewhat in order for Parallels to use it. Will these changes affect Bootcamp's performance when running natively?
