I updated Parallels from version 6 to version 7 (latest upgrade downloaded). My Windows XP vm, made by Parallels 6, runs find (after updating Parallels Tools). Window 7 vm does not load and I get the Windows repair dialog box. Repair fails. It is as if it can find the Windows 7 hd file. "Cannot find SCSI" Cannot find BOOTMRG" I then tried to make a new Windows 7 64 bit vm using the quick/easy install (no customization). I get: Trying to start from SATA Drive Can't find BOOTMGR Cntrl Alt Delete to restart However there is also the circling parallels progress thingy indicating activity. It has been doing this for more than an hour. Any ideas? Many many many thanks.
It would be helpful to know how long it takes, roughly, to install Windows 7 64 bit using the MacBook Pro dvd. Is it normal to take more than 2 hours? Doesn't Parallels or Windows provides some kind of progress bar?
Update: I tried it again from scratch. I am making a new vm for Windows 7 64 bit under Parallels 7. NOW when I try to install from the original certified genuine dvd (really), after I enter my PRODUCT KEY, the Microsoft installers claims that I do not have a genuine version of Windows. Again, I had no problems under Parallels 6… And I am running a genuine version of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit (purchased using my academic discount as faculty). Any ideas?
