So it seems that the "Suspend on window close" and "Pause when no windows are open" options in Parallels 6 simply do not work. I have a Windows 7 VM which is permanently using around 30% of my host Mac's CPU, doing, as far as I can tell, nothing. Nothing in the Windows Task Manager is showing as using any CPU at all, no applications are running, I have it very much thinned out with regard to System Services, etc. So, first question: why the constant CPU usage? And, second question: why is the machine not entering Suspend when I close the last Windows window in Coherence mode? And, third question: why is the machine not Pausing (which presumably would halt any CPU usage) when no Windows applications are running? Cheers
Ummm very interesting Although you have paused the Windows OS. Parallels is still running? It could be something as simple as a memory leak of some kind from Parallels when its in this condition? What Mac OS are you using? If your using Lion I would recommend upgrading to Parallels 7. I found Parallels 6 has more issues with Lion. I found High CPU at times with both however. It might be just a side effect of a Virtual machine software. I tend to just shut down Windows when I am not using it. Mainly because I only have 2GB RAM on my Macbook Air and need to free up RAM for OSX.
I'm using 10.6, no need for Lion, and I'm still using Parallels 6. High CPU usage is another issue, this is constant CPU usage, even when absolutely nothing is running on the VM itself.
Do any Parellels staff actually answer questions on these forums? If they're charging end-users for customer support, you'd think they would at least maintain a presence on their support forum, it's not the responsibility of other users to play their support role.
