Before I purchase a copy of Parallels desktop, I have a few questions regarding its use.

    1. Does Parallel desktop for Mac allow me to install Window Apps, such as MS office 2007, or do I still need to purchase a copy of MS office for Mac?

    2. Does Parallel desktop use a lot of resources running on a Macbook Pro? Am I able to work just as fast in Parallels or does it slow the computer down? T

    Thanks!

    Hello Butterfly12,

    1. Yes, you can install Windows Apps into a Windows-based Parallels Desktop virtual machine. You will then be able to run these apps seamlessly on your Mac. Please refer to this link for more information on this functionality http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/discover/

    2. Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac Hardware Requirements:

    * A Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor.
    * Minimum 2 GB of memory (4 GB of memory is recommended to run Windows 7 in a virtual machine or if your host OS is Lion)
    * About 500 MB of disk space on the boot volume (Macintosh HD) for Parallels Desktop installation.
    * About 15 GB of disk space for each virtual machine.

^Thank you very much for your reply! A final question I have is:

If I install Parallels, can I use an existing Windows Product Key to install as the OS or do I have to purchase a separate product key? Thank you very much!

For each Windows OS you are required to use a unique license key, you cannot activate two Windows OS installations with one product key, unless it is a multi-activation license key. Thus, call Microsoft and activate Windows by phone, tell Microsoft support you have changed the hardware and need to reactivate Windows installed on your drive.
