I have been running Windows 7 Pro via Boot Camp on my iMac for over 12 months with absolutely NO PROBLEMS, I have owned a FULL Retail Copy of Windows 7 Pro for almost 2 years and have never had any problems regarding Validation, even when I changed my PC machine over to iMac 12 months ago..., none at all.................. Now, after installing Parallels v7.0 I am costantly being asked to Validate my Full Retail Windows 7 Pro. My setup is.............I still have the Boot Camp partition so Parallels only uses that partition to run my Windows Apps. Now...If I validate Windows from within my Boot Camp partition, everything is fine, Validation succeeds. If I then go to Mac OSx Lion..........., Boot Parallels and Windows 7 I am asked to Validate Windows again and from there it fails....... It's very frustrating as I now have so many problems running Parallels with my Windows 7 and trying to get Linux apps suggested by the Parallels "New" file to run is almost impossible, especially to update Parallels Tools............. This is not good enough from a "so say" Market Leader !!!!!!!! Probably easier to revert back to Mac Boot Camp, at least it's cheaper and far more reliable and solid............ Anyone else with my symtoms ????? Better still, anyone know how to eliminate these annoying symptoms..........
Solution Hello ktodack, In fairness to Parallels the solution was very simple in the end although Parallels do not make this absolutely understandable in their Help Menus.. My problem was solved very simply after Support phoned me and told me exactly what to do. I mistakenly thought that "Validating" my Windows 7 on Parallels would somehow show up that I was trying to use it on two separate systems.... this is NOT the case.. The "Activation" and "Validation" process via the Microsoft Telephone line is quite involved but so long as you follow the instructions you will be able to "Activate" your Windows 7 to be used in Parallels with NO Problems whatsoever.. I did it so I'm sure you can to... just follow the "Activate now by Telephone" instructions and you will be successful.... Follow this link for more detailed instructions...http://kb.parallels.com/9703 Cheers, Ron...
