    hey

PD 7 tells me that there is an update available but (7.0.14924.699487)
and if I click download a new dialog box appears telling me

"The Update could not be downloaded - Please check your network connection and try again"

I double checked my software firewall and PD has full access to the network. And my internet is up and running.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers

I had this happen the other day when it half-downloaded the update and then redownloaded over the original. May or may not be your problem but here's how I fixed it.

    Open up a Finder window.
On the menu click Go and Library (hold down Option key if you don't see Library).
Go to Parallels and then Downloads and delete the file that is there.
    Try checking for updates again.

In case if the previous suggestion does not help, you can always go the the Parallels website http://www.parallels.com/download/desktop/ and download the latest build. After the download in complete you can install the latest build - all your data will be kept safe

    Thanks!

I think NathanJ was right and it had something to do with a interrupted DL.

But there was a new update released and that one downloaded without a problem.

So all up to date and working fine.

    cheers

Problem with more than one virtual processor...

I've had this same problem now and in the past, and it ALWAYS happened when I made a particular change: from (1) virtual processor to (2) virtual processors. First, here's the system I'm running on:

    MacBook Pro 5,2 (Early 2009)
    2.66GHz Core 2 Duo
    8Gb RAM
    200Gb OCZ Vertex 2 SSD
    OS X 10.7.2
Parallels 7 (latest build) and the virtual machine reside on the SSD.

    Virtual Machine specifications:

    Windows 7
    64Gb Hard Drive (default settings)
    Isolated from Mac OS
    1 processor, 4Gb RAM
VM is set to default to full-screen at startup at full resolution (1920x1200).

This setup yields me absolutely no problems, Windows runs like a champ. (There is no Applications folder on my dock because the VM is "isolated" from the Mac OS.) THE MOMENT I CHANGE the VM configuration (while shutdown) from 1 processor to 2 processors, it SLOWS TO A CRAWL on the subsequent startup and stays that way, no matter what I try.

Looking at the Windows Resource Monitor, only the CPU is affected, memory usage is normal. The top culprits are:
System (described as NT Kernel & System)
    System Interrupts
    csrss.exe
    dwm.exe

    What I've tried so far:

    1. Shutting the VM back down and changing processor setting back to 1 core, then restarting (no change, still slow).
    2. Reinstalling Parallels Tools (no change, still slow).
    3. Moving the VM to secondary HDD (in case the SSD is causing the problem) (no change, still slow).
    4. Calling Indian tech support (what a joke) and run through a ridiculous amount of unnecessary steps that never once address the actual problem (no change, still slow).

What I've determined to be the only true solution: buy VMWare Fusion 4 and never buy another Parallels product again.

In case if your issue wouldn't be solved in the first line support - it would be escalated to the second line.

I can suggest you to reduce RAM assigned to your VM and check the performance. And keep RAM not more than 3 GB for the virtual machine.

Parallels 2nd Line of Support DOES NOT EXIST...

    YanaYana,

Unfortunately, I have twice had this specific issue escalated to 2nd level support by some Indian tech, but then that is the last I ever here.

I have actually even tried to see about submitting a bug report to Parallels, because I can reproduce this bug at will, but can't. When I uninstall Parallels, it opens a web browser to request information as to why I uninstalled it. I've clicked the appropriate buttons so that I can submit a report as to why this is happening, but it leads to nowhere.

Parallels has some of the worst customer service I've ever encountered. I always recommend to those who ask me to choose VMWare Fusion instead if for nothing more than the complete lack of respect Parallels has for its paying customers.

In other news, multiple installs, uninstalls, and re-installs of Parallels Desktop 7 eventually led to my VM working properly again. I'm completely not sure why it takes multiple tries (defies simple logic) but it did.

I absolutely can tell you that if I were to repeat the same steps that have previously made my VM unusable, it would act up again, clear sign of a bug.

You can post on forum - so i would be able to file a bug to the Development team.

But it is possible only when you encounting a problem cause i would ask you to send Problem report which now will tell nothing to us as far as issue has gone.
