OS X 10.4.9 Had parallels installed with XP ran with no problems. Checked for updates, downloaded file, quit as per program. Installed the latest upgrade some minutes ago. Run and I get Setup for Windows. It detects nothing. Quit Run again It gives me the choice of XP or XP 1 XP does not work (setup) XP 1 does work. Custom Video Resolution of 1024*768 does not work. It wants to install a Video Driver Quit Remove XP to leave just XP 1 Run It wants a full Windows reinstall So it was running well and the update has done something funky.
Hugh - Build 3188 Tim - I only had one account. I launched Parallels and XP just started. Now I get asked whether the Virtual Machine XP or XP 1 is to run. The Hardware Wizard has found the Video Controller (VGA Compatible) and even though I say Yes to connect to the Microsoft site it says it cannot find software. I have the latest Tools installed.
I am also experiencing issues with this. OS X 10.4.8 with Build 3186 was almost perfect with no issues at all! Now after upgrading to OS X 10.4.9 and 3188 im experiencing problems with :- 1) Very slow internet connection in my VM. I cant FTP anything at all through XP VM when the connection via OS X was speedy! 2) Could not send/receive email (Thunderbird on U3 Sandisk) when it was running just fine in 3186. 3) Screen hang in coherance. I have to keep switching between coherence, full screen and windowed a few times to regain control. 4) UNABLE to burn CDs - This is now broken (again, used to work just fine in 3186) 5) Problems with the cursor. In Adobe Illustrator, copy with confined axis move (ctrl-alt-shift) does not not anymore, upon release, the copied image simply moves randomly thus losing alignment.. Wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same..
Hi, I can't find the download link for the tools? I updated those after the problem started though. Some more information: Library/Parallels/ -winxp - -unattended.fdd (1.4mb) - -winxp.hdd (604.3mb) - -winxp.pvs (4kb) -winxp.1 - -unattended.fdd (1.4mb) - -Windows Applications (empty folder) - -winxp.1.hdd (2.51gb) - -winxp1.pvs (4kb) If I choose XP, I briefly see the regular loading black screen with the Microsoft logo and the throbber bar. That reverts inside a couple of seconds to a blue setup screen. If I choose XP 1, Windows loads as above and the Found New Hardware wizard appears as described above. If I remove XP and rename XP.1, I get the setup as above. The machine is a mini Intel, 1gb, 10.4.9 It worked flawlessly until the update and when that was downloaded I followed the screen prompts through the upgrade process. The problem then started. This is not a disaster and I am perfectly happy to remove everything and reinstall (hopefully MS will give me a new key without too much hassle) and I may well be the only one. If I can help any further, just say. Or if a full reinstall is the way to go, no problem.
a virtual disk image visible in PD Mac Menu vmtools.iso the whole point of the Mac GUI is that is is highly automated do not rename files other then user created data like folders images and documents unless you know exactly what you are doing In the old days we had a ResEdit freebie which could customise and hack resources and many a user had to reinstall a system because they messed up it sounds as if you have duplicated an installation the Mac does not overwrite exisitng files or call a windows style "do you want to overwrite" dialog box but just adds a number 1 for a second copy, 2 for the third copy . . . etc of a file another important difference between Mac OS and Windows is on the Mac you can have multiple copies of the same application or od different versions of the same app. EG Mac Firefox 2 did some hangs and lost some of my postings via web pages so I renamed that folder Firefox2 got the old firefox 1.5 disk image and installed that then added 1.5 to the dock and right clicking to select to "Open at Log In" as does PD and two mail programs to delete a VM best to use the Paralles menu system and the wizard just now I have two:- WINXP7 and clone of WinXP7 Hugh W
That's just it - I didn't. I just did what the upgrader told me. It's moot now - I'm reinstalling completely.
