Hello there. Ever since I downloaded the new parallels update that came out a couple days ago i notice that my desktop icons get rearranged every time I start up windows xp. They don't stay in the same place because the screen starts small and then increases resolutions once everything has been loaded.

This also happened even if I start parallels from full screen mode also.

Please let me know how I can fix this.

    Thank you.

Did you email Parallels support about this and when they are going to fix it?

I've posted here and reported it through the bug report in the software... I haven't heard anything except your post.

You might try just disabling auto arrange in XP itself. I believe your icons will stay in place after that. (I'm going from memory, so I could be wrong.)

This is a windows deal; same thing happens when you change the desktop size within windows - the icons always get moved around. A workaround is to arrange your icons with in an 800x600 rectangle - that way when you boot up in a smaller window the icons don't get moved and rearranged.

No, this is a change in Parallels behaviour since 1970. In 1970 if your OS Window was off the edge of the screen and you toggled between OS Window and Fullscreen and back to OS Window the OS Window would stay the same size (1920x1200)... in 3188 when you toggle back from Fullscreen to OS Window mode the OS Window is resized so it fits on the screen... and hence moves all your icons. Auto Arrange is disabled.

Also in 1970 it remembered the size of the OS Window or Display Mode (Fullscreen) when starting up... so it always remained at 1920x1200.

Will an update soon be released to fix this issue?

    Thanks.
