I'm trying to mount an .hdd from an earlier installation of Parallels as a second drive to my current installlation in order to recover some data I have on the desktop. The old version is fried and will not boot. I followed the procedure in the add hardware wizard and now I can see the old drive on the bottom right of the XP window marked as 'Hard Disk 2 (IDE 1:0)'. Its status is 'connected'.
Problem is that I can't find the drive anywhere in XP. I thought it would show up as an extra drive in Explorer but only the C drive is showing (aprt from the floppy and the DVD). I am logged in as an administrator (in fact I am the only user).
Any idea what I should do?

This is a bit complex as I don´t run an english version of XP, but I´ll try:
Make sure you are logged in as an administrator. Right-click on "This computer" and choose "Handle"?(choice #4) in the menu. If you choose the correct item, you will see a menu where you can see the item "Storage" and in that menu "harddiskdrive-handling" or similar. When you see a graphical representation of all your harddisk drives, assign a letter to the new drive by right clicking its partition and choose a letter. Sorry, but I´ve never tried an english version. Good luck!
These steps are necessary in XP and the method is a bit different in Windows 98.
Maybe you already solved the problem. Even probably so, since you´ve not replied to my post.
