I've updated to the latest beta (3188) and upon every restart, Parallels Tools start installing. I've tried uninstalling Parallel Tools and reinstalled from scratch - still same issue. It only happens when i restart my MacBook Pro - not when I restart Parallels. Anybody with good/great ideas on how to solve this. Thanks, John
Nice to know someone else is having the same problem. And looking for an answer. Mine occurs with parallels restart.
Having the same problem here. It didn't happen when i was using XP via the bootcamp partition but i then migrated my bootcamp XP to a PD virtual drive since i was not using Bootcamp anyway and PD started to ask me to re-install the tools at every reboot of the virtual machine. A temporary fix is to disable CD/DVD support in your parallels virtual machine. Since the tools installer is launched by mounting an autorun CD in the virtual machine, disabling the CD drive prevents it from launching. Or at least i think it worked for me. Not ideal obviously but better than nothing until this bug is fixed.
you could also try renaming the tools ISO file in /Library/Parallels/Tools. It may cause window to throw an error about not being able to find setup.exe but sure better than the installer keep starting over and over.
Disconnect the ISO image Disconnect the ISO image, and set the CD drive to connect to "Default CD/DVD-ROM" (click on the CD icon at the bottom of the Parallels window.... This sets the CD by default to be the hardware device, not the Parallels Tools image. If the Parallels Tools image loads, the Autorun will be triggered (the same as if you left an autorun CD in a physical windows box). Cheers, Joel
