Recently ( nothing has changed on my system ) I started getting a pop up while entering coherence mode, that I need to raise my video memory in my Parallels Preferences.

I have always left it at 8mb.. is this a bug of some sort? I have rebooted many times and changed settings.

I have set it up all the way to the max video memory and it still doesnt resolve this.. all of the parallels advanced video stuff, shading, transitions, etc are off

using a Macbook pro 15" - 128mb video ram core 2 duo model with 2gb system ram.. latest beta of Parallels

Did you try to set Video memory at 16 mb?

yes - I set it to the max and it does the same..

I re-installed the parallels tools and it seems to have resolved it, but I dont see what could have changed.. now I get occasional boots that just sit there at a black screen.. I have backups of my virtual machine - nothing has changed - its my corporate image.

I'm having a similar issue with the same macbook.
I have a user running AutoDesk (CAD software) and it crashes on a particular, resource intensive operation. (it being autodesk...the VM is unaffected)

I boosted the RAM all the way up but it doesn't seem to be translating into the vm. Meaning that in the virtual Windows machine there is 8MB ram. You can adjust the virtual motherboard in VMWare, but how is done in Parallel?

the solution to this is to just reinstall the tools..

it has happened on the official build as well.. when the machine crashes on me and I do a halt/stop.. I have to re-install the tools when I come back up cause of the video memory problem
