Hi All, I'm a Mac/ Parallels n00b, but I'm very well versed in windows. My boss (I know, *groan*) upgraded his parallels software on friday to the newest release. Immediately after the upgrade, he restarted the Mac, then attempted to start his winxp sp2 image. We're stuck in the pre-load screen with 'a disk read error occurred' message. From what I've seen in the parallels setup screens, we're pointing to the correct disk image. I've attempted to boot to a P-E disk (thanks bart) that works with other machines, but not on the proprietary mac hardware (I boot to a blank screen, which sounds like video issues to me). Regardless, has anyone had success booting to a parallels image after an error such as this? I'd like to run CHKDSK /FIXMBR against this image to see if I can fix it, but I'm not sure how if I can't even boot to a P-E disk. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I just made a new VM because it was easier and I had my data backed up on the mac is the Mac hard disk over full? Hugh W
No dice. The Mac HDD is not overly full, the windows partition is 20gb total, only 1/2 full. Created a new VM, an chose to use the current image. Attempted to boot, got same error. This tells me the problem is in the image itself somewhere. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
