I am running Vista using parallels (3186) on a macbook. Overall Vista has peformed well except for the Media Center. When I try to open a video file in Media center I get the following message: "Files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly". Strangely I can run the video files using media player 11 outside of Media Center. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to address this problem.
The following lists the video file types that are supported in Windows Media Center. Windows Media file .wm and .asf Windows Media Video file .wmv Windows video file .avi Microsoft Recorded TV Show file .dvr-ms Movie file .mpeg, .mpg, .mpe, .m1v, .mp2, and .mpv2 If its not one of these then thats the answer it could also be a strange DRM related issue preventing playback. You can install additional codecs into Media Center see M$.com for more info.
