    dear friends,

installed the paralels build 3186, but FORGET to uninstall the parallel tools from a former beta 1version 32?? first.

now parallels 3186 does not boot (via Bootcamp partion), because parallels says
"parallels Tools for Boot Camp (beta 1 version) was installed. Please uninstall Parallel Tools first"

I did uninstall the old beta Parallels version on OSX - so it was not possible to use this old beta version for uninstalling the tools any longer.
So I tryed to unistall under native Bootcamp Windows, but Windows says, it is not possible to uninstall, run uninstaller under parallels virtuell machine :(

1.) so I edit the boot.ini, -> only the normal bootcamp win XP prof. SP2 is booting now (no choice any longer)
2.) I deleted the parallels folder under programs/

After all this, parallels still finds the old parallels tools when I try to start the virtuell machine ""parallels Tools for Boot Camp (beta 1 version) was installed...."

How can I delete the data/information regarding the old Tools on my Windows partion/system. so Parallel VM does not find this old version any longer - and will go forward with booting the VM finally?

sorry for this bad English, I am German.

    fond wishes

Hey, unless you can reinstall your old Parallels folder in program files you need to.

Get the old Beta, remove parallels desktop install, reinstall the old beta, remove paralllels tools, reinstall the new beta, reinstall parallels tools.

If you do still have the Parallels folder from program files you need to:
    1. Restore it to its previous location
    2. Go to OS X, load up your VM
    3. Hold F8 as windows is booting to get to the start-up options (before the Windows loading graphics come up). Select "VGA Mode"
    4. Boot Windows, remove parallels tools, reboot
    5. Reinstall new Parallels tools.

    You should be OK now.

    Cheers,
    Josh

    dear josh,

thanks for your answer. but all of this does not help, because:
    - I do not have the old Beta version any longer & I can not remember wich version it was. I removed everything under OSX before I installed the new 3186 version :(
    - I removed by hand the parallels folder in windows (booted via bootcamp)
    - I removed the text line in the boot.ini in windows manuelly, so bootcamp bootes automatically the regular bootcamp XP Prof., and does not ask me wich windows any longer. Fine so far.

So my OSX is clean and my Windows XP Prof. SP should be clean too !?!?
New 3186 is installed but there should be something in the windows or OSX registry wich Parallels tells there was a former parallels tools installed.

oh my god. what should we do. where sould be more people like me with the same problem, what can we do.

    best wishes

did made a registry clean up with tune up and deleted all parallels folders and files. now 3186 installed fine under OSX. But 3186 destroyed my bootcamp win xp pro and it does not start the vm too. what a programm - it is the hell.
now, i can not use windows any longer and I can not use bootcamp xp native. :(
