I am a newbie to Parallels and would like some advice. I am setting up Parallels for a School Principal who has a 2.16Ghz Powerbook with 1gig of RAM. She is not a poweruser in any sense of the word and I know everyone will tell me she needs more RAM but I am very certain that as this is a leased Powerbook and in a small rural school. adding RAM is out of the question. Bearing this in mind, what would the best amount of RAM to allocate to Parallels? Does anyone know of any issues with Parallels on this model? Our local Apple dealer tried to install and had issues after installation so has put Boot Camp on!!!
What would be an ideal amount of RAM for Parallels for MacBooks with only 512megs RAM. More RAM is coming but it is not an option at this stage. Thanks for any help with all these questions
    Cheers

I'm assuming you mean an MBP, not a Powerbook. Depends on what else she is doing on the machine. 256 MB might be fine. With only 512 in the MBs, you're pushing it. I guess 256 in that case, but then Mac apps will have issues (though they would anyway with only 512). You really need at least 1GB in there.

Apologies, I meant a MacBook Pro. Thanks for your thoughts. Just going through the install process right now. The Apple dealer rang me last night as he had visited the school and found I had 'pinched' the MBP from the Princpal. We get on fine so there were no issues but he said the reason he had used Boot Camp was because the mouse was problematical and she was using a USB mouse. They found that with the install they used, there was support for only one USB device so they couldn't plug anything else in. I think i have fixed the mouse with a little cleaning with meths - I wonder if she uses some hand cream which builds up on the mouse.
Do the new builds offer support for more than one USB device? Sounds a bit of a story to me?
    Thanks for any thoughts
