I am most disappointed in Parallels 7 for for Mac.

I recently upgraded from version 5, running Windows XP.

I have a MacBook Pro, Mac OS 10.6.

I have installed the product twice and it is barely working, takes forever to load, and now I cannot connect to the internet via windows.

I have filed a ticket with Parallels tech support and have not received response in the last two days, after being promised a response within 24 hours.

    Any suggestions???

Need more info. Have you tried reinstalling Parallels? Have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling Parallels Tools in Windows? How do you have your Internet connection set up?

More details are needed to help.

    I have un-installed everything ... i think.

I will plan to re - install later tonight or tomorrow, along with re-installing Windows XP, whe I get time. I am running a business and clients don't wait.

My internet connection is to use my Mac Airport card, just like it was under Parallels 5.

THis should not be this difficult; Parallels tech support is not existent. If it were not for this forum and your timely response, I would asking American Express to get me a refund on this pos software.

If you send a request for support using Parallels Desktop's menu typically they reply in 1-3 days. I've had emails and I've had phone calls to assist me with problems. I like to find my own answers so typically I come here first. Parallels staff visit here and do reply on occasion, but they do not promise to answer every question or support request because this is a user's forum. There is also a phone support option, but I have never called it requesting support.

I did what you are describing.

I did it twice; nothing ... no reply ... nada ... bupkis ... I appear to be not so important to them.

Maybe I will get there attention when I ask for a refund.

What other products are there to run Windows on a MAC?

VMware Fusion is probably the closest in function, but most every review says Parallels is a little better or a lot better. Fusion is faster with their latest update but still not as fast as Parallels.

There is also VirtualBox which I believe is free. It is not as full featured or fast, and does not automatically set some things up for you, but you can't beat the price.

For free there is also CrossOver (based on Wine) and of course Wine if you only want to run certain Windows programs and the one you want to run is supported.

Of course you can set up a partition and use BootCamp for virtually 100% compatibility, speed, etc. You can't run both the Mac OS and Windows at the same time this way.

These are the alternatives that come to mind.
