I needed to increase the size of my virtual machine (Windows XP). I went to Virtual Machine/Configure/Hardware to expand 'hard Disk 1'. I clicked 'edit' and dragged the slide to a new value and clicked 'apply'. It appeared the system locked up. After about 10 minutes with nothing happening, I clicked 'Cancel'. Now I can not use my Virtual Machine. When trying to run, I get the message 'NTLDR is missing' and it tries to boot from the CD-ROM drive. I get the message 'There is no operating system installed in this virtual machine. Please install an operating system cd........' Have I lost everything? What if it does boot from the CD-ROM? What happens to the previous contents of the Virtual Machine?
I am having a very similar issue. I cannot resize any drive image. It appears to be working and then when it is done the GUI shows that nothing has changed and when I try to use it, it is corrupted. Luckily I keep back up copies of my VM. Attempting command line tool to accomplish this task right now...hopefully it works. Bullzie
