Hi reader! Over the last two years I've been using Parallels and it's been great, especially when it comes to software that's not distributed on a large scale and thus not available for Mac. Today, though, I've ran into an annoying problem. I'm trying to run a programming IDE (it seems custom build by/for the university I study at, so it's not widely supported) in Parallels, as the Mac-version is outdated. The problem I run into is as follows. When typing into the 'editing' screen, my text shows up but my textcursor is invisible. This disallows me from seeing where my text is going to appear or change the cursor's position using the arrow keys - all in all it really kills efficiency. When I click somewhere, the textcursor stays there (and doesn't blink) until I click somewhere else, regardless of any typing. I've tried on a windows machine and the software runs OK on there. Does anyone have a tip or hint I could try? Anything goes, I'm out of tricks! I'm running Windows XP in Parallels 6 under Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard). EDIT: Aditional detail: when I tried in an emulation of Windows 7, it worked fine! That's odd! EDIT2: Turns out it does work when I copy the folder to my VM, but not when I share a Mac folder. Odd again!
This is weird. It worked once (after I had copied the .exe to the C:\ virtual machine) but now it doesn't anymore. Someone has something I could try?
