I have a Windows 7 Virtual Machine that started as a boot camp partition, but I moved it to being just a virtual machine when I needed to upgrade my hard drive. I recently upgraded to Parallels 7.0.14920, and am Running Lion 10.7.1 on my mac.

I have Sharing set up for All Disks and to Share Mac user Folders with Windows and Map Mac Volumes to Windows. And I Have Windows set up to Access Windows Folders from Mac and Mount Virtual Disks to Mac Desktop, but no drives show up on either my mac or within windows, meaning I can't get any files across from my virtual machine to my mac or the other way around.

I have 24GB of RAM and am giving 6 to Parallels Virtual Machine. I have been having the problem since I created the virtual machine from my old Boot Camp Partition.

When I look at my Computer, I see my BootCamp Partition (which is now my Virtual Machine) and it shows a disk I, but it is unreadable to the PC. I cannot figure out how to get files to pass in between any longer, and this is making Parallels pretty useless right now.

    Hello jonahlee,

To be able to share disks and folders between Mac and Windows you need Parallels Tools installed. (Virtual machine - > Install Parallels Tools). If you already have Parallels Tools installed, please make sure they are not outdated. A problem report collected from your launched Windows may shed light on the root cause: Parallels Desktop menu on top-> Help-> report a problem, describe the issue. Please, post the ID here.

Parallels Tools says that it is installed, but when I try to re-install it, I keep running into errors. I am getting to 83% and then it fails.

I tried to follow the help, but I don't have the file it lists.

The report showed broken installation of Parallels Tools. Remove them from Control Panel - Programs and features. Windows will reboot automatically. After that go to Virtual amchine -Install Parallels Tools. This should resolve the issue.

Unfortunately I can't get Parallels Tools to install correctly, and it doesn't even show up in the Remove Control Panel as an application, though Parallels Desktop seems to think that it is installed correctly. I followed the error messages (been trying this all day) and did everything it said to repair the issue, but it has done nothing. I am totally frustrated and think I am looking at having to do a clean windows install, which is not at all ideal.

http://kb.parallels.com/en/6891 this is for the error I am getting which is Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {GUID} HRESULT: 0x800736FD

The thing is, Windows Installer is started, but I can't get SFC /SCANNOW to run anyway.

The strangest part to me is that Parallels says that Parallels Tools is installed, but it doesn't show up as an installed program, so I can't even uninstall it!

I tried manually uninstalling the old Parallels Tools to see if that would do it, as per this thread http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=32713 but strangely that didn't work, in fact when I restarted the virtual machine Parallels still reported that Parallels tools is installed, and attempting to re-install parallels tools resulted in the same error.

What are my options? Do I need to just do a Clean Windows Install and start over?

Perfect - that worked for me. I had been stuck at 83% for a few days and tried a number of other tips.

    Thanks.
