I have 3 macs that I upgraded to OSX Lion this week ( 7/27/11). The OS is beautiful, and while not as full featured as the last version of snow leopard, it is a reasonable evolution.

All three machines run VM software to run guest OS for Win based applications. 2 machines (early 2009 MacBook Air & early 2008 MacBook Pro) run parallels, and WinXP. Both have problems with parallels and the new OS. The MacBook Pro "hides" parallels and the guest OS in the background, and never allows me to see it except as a thumbnail in the "Virtual Machines List." I can get it back by eliminating all of the "Mission Control" windows. Hence, as a temporary measure I can live with this. It's a pain, but I can live with it temporarily.

The MacBook Air is worse... It tries to launch the guest OS, and I get an error message telling me that it "Can't load the Parallels drivers, and please reboot and try again." (That's my paraphrased version) It leaves me in that loop infinitely.

HELP.... I can live with the problems on the MacBook Pro, because I have a temporary workaround. While not an acceptable final solution, the MacBook Air problems are unacceptable.

disclaimer.... All versions of all software are the latest build available as of today, July 29, 2011. All machines are up-to-date, included as acceptable candidates for all the software I'm running

I have the exact same problem with my new 13" MacBook Air when I tried to run Parallels...

I was having exactly the same problem as John detailed below with his Airbook with my latest generation iMac ("Can't load Parallels driver, please restart your virtual machine and try again..."). I downloaded the latest build of Parallels 6 for Mac (Just do "Check for Updates" from the Parallels menu) and it seems to have done the trick (I'm running my Windows apps inside of Parallels now without any obvious issues yet). Hope that helps.

    Works fine on my MBA

Just upgraded to the new 13" MBA 3 days ago.

Fresh Parallels 6 and Windows 7 install.

Works great. No problems at all.
