    Here is the goal:

I want to run VPN on OS X and have all network activity on the host VM (in my case windows XP) piped out through the VPN while internet traffic in OS X goes out through regular internet connection. Ideally if the VPN goes down for some reason I would want there to be no internet traffic at all on the VM.

Does anyone think this is possible?
What type of network connection should I use in Parallels? (Shared, host-networking or bridged)
Can I use the native firewall and VPN utilities in OS X to make this all happen?
Does this setup in any way compromise my security on either my mac or my VM?

I am not savy about networking at all so if anyone feels like taking pity on me and telling me a better/more elegant way to do this I would be really grateful. I would prefer to run the VPN on the mac side if possible as I don't want it detectable by any apps in the virtual machine.

Hi, you could try to use Shared Networking and configure Firewall on Mac OS to allow for prl_naptd only IP-addresses of the VPN. I don't know though how to block Mac OS from accessing VPN..

May be you could install VPN-client inside Windows VM and use SharedNetworking? It would make the task easier.

I tried doing what you said but it did not solve the problem.
