    Hi folks,

I get the following error when checking for updates in Parallels Desktop for Mac 6.

Unable to connect to the Parallels Update site.
Please check your Internet connection and try again.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem? And I mean getting the Check for Updates to work, not downloading a fresh copy.

I've searched the kb and the forums. I found a couple of forum threads without answers. One thread has covered versions 4 through 6 for over two years without an answer. It kind of makes me wonder why there is even a menu option to check for updates.

    Thanks

If your ISP is HughesNet, then Unfortunately Parallels Desktop cannot be registered under this network provider.
For some reason registration and verification requests are blocked by HughesNet and cannot reach our server.
Even if Parallels Desktop is registered under another provider, it will prompt you that it is not registered as soon as you switch back to HughesNet.
This issue has been reported to our Development Team already and they are currently working on that.
Until then, please kindly consider downloading and installing updates manually:
    Go to Parallels web site:
    http://www.parallels.com/download/desktop/
    Download latest installation package
Double click the saved .dmg package - all the updates will be installed.
