I am using the latest Parallels version 6.0.12092.670880 with two VM's - Win XP and Win 7. My Mac is the original MacBook 13" (Intel Core Duo, not Core 2 Duo) with 2GB of RAM installed and running the latest 10.6.8 of Snow Leopard. I just installed Microsoft's "patch Tuesday" updates to the XP VM with no problem, and thought I was going down the same path with my Win 7 VM, but once it restarted and attempted to complete the updates, it freezes up. I have the MenuMeters add-on, and I can watch as CPU utilization toggles back and forth between the two cores with 100% utilization numbers. All disk activity stops, and I have to close down the VM without saving changes and try again. It keeps freezing each time, so I'm stuck.

The Win 7 VM configuration is set to 1 CPU and 1GB of memory, but I've tried 2 CPUs with no change. Video memory is set to 128 MB. Any suggestions?

    Update

I should note that once I reverted the Windows VM image to a backed-up version (thanks, Time Machine!) and then installed the "patch Tuesday" updates one at a time, with a restart between each patch, I was able to get all patches installed without the freeze. Apparently there is something wrong when trying to apply all updates at once.
