I'm running a Windows 7 VM from a portable hard drive (I did a poor job of porting over my 350+GB Win7 machine to my MacBook Pro when I bought it, and don't have enough HD room to run it directly from my disk -sigh). The VM runs, albeit slowly. I cannot get networking/internet connectivity to run. Device manager says the network adapter (Intel 1000 MT) does not have enough resources to run, and I need to disconnect another device. I bumped up the VM memory to no avail. It is presently set for shared networking. PTools are installed. ipconfig reveals no media connection. Wifi and everything on Mac side runs like a charm.

I'm not sure how to address the problem at this point.

MacBook Pro; WD Passport USB hard drive; Win7 VM; Parallels 6.0.11992

Windows XP VM, which is running locally, shows the Parallels Ethernet on 10.211.55.3.

    Thanks for any help!

Still a problem getting network to connect - more suggestions?

I have rolled back Parallels to the prior release, uninstalled all ATI software, including Catalyst Control Center (the migrated machine was an HP Pavilion running an ATI GPU), and am still trying to find what I must be missing with this problem.

I thought I saw the web icon flicker briefly during one reboot, but Win7 wanted me to continue and when it rebooted again, the display settings were messed up and the network didn't appear active again.

The current errors in System include PCI and USB as follows, in addition to the installed network device for 1000 PRO/MT Network connection:

PCI Bus 0, Device 3, function 0 - Code 28 Device not installed
82801FB/FBM USB Universal Host Controller 2658
    82801FB/FBM USB2 Universal Host Controller 265C

    Any other suggestions?

Back to troubleshooting networking and "not enough resources"

After a few months of not taking the time to fix it, I am now back to wanting to correct the lack of network connectivity in my Win7 VM. I am now running the VM over a Firewire 800 connection which is much faster than the USB 2.0 I was using before.

KB article 7047 explains the issue, but I have destroyed all ATI-related anything I can find on the Win7 VM, and I still have a PCI device (unknown) and the yellow error on Network Adapter.

    My setup is now:

    Parallels 6.0.12090 running on a MacBook Pro (summer 2010 2.53 GHz i5) on OS X 10.6.3.
VM is running on a brand new LaCie 1TB drive connected via Firewire 800.
VM says it is running Standard VGA

    What is the current error?

Also I think it is worth to try to reinstall Parallels Tools (because you rollbacked to previous revision)
