Anyone seen this? Running Parallels 1970 with WinXP Pro, actually with WinXP suspended by Parallels up, Microsoft Office 2004 Office Notifications crashes on startup when attempting to notify me of an Entourage meeting and then continuously tries to restart and crash, using 50+% of the CPU. When I quit Parallels, the crashing stops and Office Notifications pop up correctly again.
I've had this problem one time. I solved it by killing the office notification process and restarting. That solved it for me. Have't had the problem sense. I'm not sure what initiated it.
How did you kill the notification process? The thing just (in my case) keeps starting up and disappearing...just long enough for the icon to appear in the dock then immediately disappear, over and over. Kinda funny to see the dock expanding and contracting...sort of like it's breathing Still, am I missing some daemon somewhere that I could kill? I did kill the database deamon the first time this happened and I *think* it helped...but then I couldn't start any Office apps. Grrrrrrr.
Hate to reply to my own posts , but it appears now Parallels is not the cause after all. Just another example of crappy Microsoft stuff I guess :-(. The original tie must've just been coincidental...or I kill enough apps to make something happy...who knows. Oh well, as Emily Litella always said..."Never mind".....
