I had a windows 7 partition through bootcamp and it worked fine with parallels 5 once I installed macdrive. Later on, I expanded the windows 7 partition, shrunk the OS X partition, and added a new partition for Ubuntu using gparted. Windows 7 wouldn't boot anymore on bootcamp. I looked on google and I was told that when partitioning the harddrive, you have to boot the original windows 7 disk and choose the repair option.

This fixed my partition so I can now boot windows 7 through bootcamp (using the refit). However, it still won't boot with parallels. The boot hangs at "Trying to boot from primary Master IDE drive ..."
I've searched for this on google and other people have had this problem but I couldn't find a fix. Even completely uninstalling parallels didn't work according to their accounts.

    Hi,

Parallels Desktop does support only native BootCamp Assistant. Using 3rd party utilities like gparted, or shrinking existing BootCamp partition can make it unusable for Parallels.
