I am new to Parallels 6, and plan to install it shortly on a new iMac. In the meantime, I am using VirtualPC with Windows XP Professional on my old G5 iMac, which I will discontinue. Since I already have a paid for and licensed version of Windows, I would like to avoid paying again.

So, is there any way to use this version of Windows XP within Parallels 6? It doesn't come as a separate Windows disk but was a bundled installation with VirtualPC, but does have a separate Windows Product Key.

    Thanks for the reference.

    Two things:
My VirtualPC file has an extension of .vpc7 whereas the Parallels guide says it should be .vmc. I don't have any .vmc files on the old computer. Should I proceed with the file anyway?
The guide seems to require that the VirtualPC virtual machine be on the same computer as the one containing Parallels. Of course it isn't, and although I could copy it, it won't run on the new machine (PPC vs. Intel). Is this likely to be a problem?

That seemed to work OK, in spite of my reservations. Thanks
