Please can someone give me any ideas what might be causing the error I am getting with Transporter 6 below? I have installed it on my Windows PC and the transporter reaches 97% complete at then produces this error:

"The migration could not be completed. An error occurred while migrating the disk".

Aside from the fact that this is shockingly bad error handing on the part of the programmers, it means I haven't got a clue what is causing this error!

I've tried running the migration over the network, and to an external storage device. I've tried it after stopping as many services as possible. I wondered if VMware was causing the problem so I uninstalled it. I've run chkdsk several times. Every single time it fails at 97% complete.

If anyone can give me an idea of what to try and fix, I would be very grateful! I am a PC user with reasonable technical knowledge; certainly not detailed techie know-how!

    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
    Partitioned disk (2 basic partitions)
    Toshiba Satellite
... don't know what else to add (please ask if you want me to provide more detail).

    Thanks,

    James

I am having exactly the same problem. Migration stops at exactly the same point. Have tried usb, network, and hdd migrations, but they all act the same. have even tried with windows in safe mode with anti-virus and firewall turned off. No dice. Did notice something though on my pc. there is a recovery partition created by the pc manufacturer and am wondering if that could be a problem

    Hi TVAL,

I gave up trying to fix this but did find a workaround.

Uninstall Parallels 6 and install the trial version of Parallels 5. Version 5's Transporter program includes an additional step which allows you to select which drives/partitions to migrate. I excluded the Recover Partition in the transfer and it worked.

I did notice that it identified the USB hard drive I was using to perform the transfer which I also de-selected. I wonder if Parallels 6 did the same so the USB hard drive was trying to export to itself?? As I said in my post, an error message which just says "something went wrong" is useless so I don't know if this could have been the problem.

Anyway, once I'd migrated it using Parallels 5, I then installed Parallels 6 and I've been happily using my PC since.

I'm not impressed with the support from Parallels though.........

    James,

probably your source machine has a dynamic disk. Parallels Transporter does not support migrating Windows dynamic volumes and Linux logical volumes (LVM) as stated in their Parallels Transporter guide.

I am having the same problem with Transporter Agent 6 - disk error when trying to migrate my PC to an external hard drive. The error appears around 17-18%.

Asus A6 series laptop, running Windows XP Pro, with a recovery partition and two hard drives.

I tried James' workaround of installing Transport Agent 5 so I could select only the C drive and not the partition, but no joy - the error came at 24%.

I'm meant to be going overseas in 28 hours' time and wanting to take my PC with me on my new MacBook Pro :S

Same problem (at 25%) on my XP Pro SP4 Vaio with one drive split in five partitions - I now assume partitioning is what makes Transporter 6 hang. Sad that Parallels could not come up with a fix

    Hi all

Error message doesn't describe a reason. So if you get migration error, try to install Parallels Transporter Agent from PD7 (version for windows). If error is not solved, create problem reports on Mac side (Help->Report a Problem) and on Parallels Transporter Agent side (in Parallels Transporter Agent window make a right click on icon and choose "Report a Prblem"). Post report ids here.

    Thanks.
