I see from fs_usage on my 10.6.7 system that a process called prl_disp_service is constantly accessing my disk (file /Users/mlevin/Documents/Parallels/BaseDrive-1.pvm/config.pvs ). What is this and what's it doing?

    thanks,

    Mike

Sorry, I've read the thread but I still don't understand: what does this thing do - can I just kill it or is it necessary for something?

    Hi mlevin777,

prl_disp_service is a main process of Parallels Desktop. It manages all communication between Mac OS X, Parallels Desktop and virtual machines and it is necessary to start Parallels Desktop and virtual machines as well. Without this process Parallels Desktop will not start at all.

I hope that answers your question.
