I upgraded from v5 to 6 recently and have discovered that using the standard cmd-Q key combo to quit the Parallels app no longer works. The Parallels menu item blinks briefly, but nothing else. Using the actual "Quit Parallels" item in the Parallels menu *does* work, so at least I don't have to force-quit the app. I checked and the menu item still says cmd-Q next to it, so I don't believe that has been changed in this version. I've seen a few posts about mapping keys, and I don't think this is the same issue. I don't want cmd-q to quit a windows app while leaving Parallels running. I want it to quit the Parallels app like it should do and used to do in v5. I saw an identical complaint--that cmd-q only served to make the menu heading blink--about Parallels v4 here. See comment #7: http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=92969 The suggested solution to change views, quit, restart, then change views back did not help me. I was reluctant to try uninstalling and reinstalling Parallels since this was two versions ago. I don't want to try something that drastic if it no longer applies to this version. Suggestions? Thanks.
This can be fixed: 1. Open Parallels 2. Go to Parallels -> Preferences 3. Go to the Keyboard tab 4. Tick Enable Mac OSX system shortcuts 5. I also removed the Cmd+Q mapping from the Windows profile. Cmd+Q now closes Parallels again.
