My MacBook Pro is partitioned into the main volume for the Mac and Boot Camp for Windows. I installed Windows XP Professional on the Boot Camp partition and formatted it in NTFS. I have Parallels 6.0 installed and Boot Camp is the virtual machine. I want to backup the PC machine as an image to an external HDD. The external HDD is partitioned the same way as the MacIntosh internal HD, with one partition formatted with MacOS extended (journaled)and the other NTFS. Time Machine will back up to the MacOS partition but will not back up the Windows VM. I installed Acronis PC Backup and Recovery (that came with the Parallels package) for this purpose but when I click on Acronis One Click, an error message appears "Acronis True Image Home has detected unsupported hard disc drives and does not support Windows Dynamic Disks, etc.". There must be a way to use Acronis to back up the Windows Virtual Machine to an external disc. I appreciate help from those more knowledgeable and thanks.

    Same problem-no solution

Got a runaround from both Acronis and Parallels. Something it not working on bootcamp based installs but no fix. I'd love a fix too.

I've had a long discussion with Parallels and know a little more. What is the specific problem you are experiencing?
