I have installed Mechwarrior 4 on Parallels 6 trial version. I was running 5, and having trouble installing the tools. I tried the work around suggested by some people online to just download 6 trial, install tools in my XP Pro vm. The tools installation proceeded very well, almost effortlessly. I became very jazzed up, because I started playing with the idea of running MW4 again. I see in the archives people had some trouble installing, but I had no problem with that. I am running XP Pro on a iMac 20" aluminum 2.4ghz (2008) dual core with OS X Snow Leopard.(10.6) Someone may be curious how it plays. My experience was mixed . The graphics are very good, but I can not enjoy the gameplay. Sometimes the game hangs and takes awhile, maybe up to almost a minute, to start the action again. Even more annoying is the fact that I had to get an PS2 adapter for my usb port to attach a PC keyboard. I wanted the same layout I had on my old emachines T2341 PC. Some of the keys worked ok, but the insert,Home, and Page up buttons that i used to use for firing a massive combination attack did not work the same. Actually the most aggravating thing I experienced involved these keys: When I hit the insert key,a Parallels text box "help" page opens up and covers two-thirds of the screen! So,for any of you wanting to just get past the install problem and start "The action," you may be forewarned that you are going to want to open a major mech assault on your @#$%^&*( KEYBOARD!!! I don't have technical savvy, but Iknow there are many Mechwarrior sout there to kick this problem in the rear "heat" shield. Years ago I tried the online play, and I was just target practice for the experienced. I gave up on that pretty quick. I usually play with a keyboard and mouse But I really love this game. Especially in-city firefights and jump-jetting around on rooftops. Please, someone help develop this action, I want to PLAY
I just want to add some information here. Using Parallels 6 latest version, I have been able to successfully play Mechwarrior 4: Vengeance with a joystick. I am using a Saitek Evo Force stick and everything seems fine. I am very pleased so far. I don't know if keyboard play has any problems, but this is very cool. Kudos to Parallels. I hate to post a reply to my own topic, but no one has commented and I don't want to discourage Mechwarrior fans.
