If the memorysize of the virtual machine is set higher then 1GB the guest os windows xp sp3 wont start anymore. Mac OS X 10.6.6 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 8GB 1067 MHz DDR3 Maybe its a problem with NTFS and Mac OS X 10.6.6 like the appstore ?
I have the same problem I get the Windows start up screen, it goes black for a few seconds and then reboots, it is just going round in circles. It will not start in safe mode, nor will it restore.
XP gets fatal error and reboots I have not used Parallels in over a year. I am running XP SP3 under Parallels 4.0.3848. I tried to start it at Christmas but encountered this problem. Since then I have upgraded to OSX 10.6.6 and still have the same problem. I am trying to get XP to boot so that I can install software for a medical device I will be using. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not have a Mac interface. Any ideas as to what could be causing the XP - Fatal error- reboot sequence. The error appears and the reboot starts so quickly, I cannot read the error code. During the time since I last used XP, I have not done anything to my system except to install Mac updates on a regular basis.
Driver Problem I had a similar but different problem. After the update, the Parallels Tools auto-started to install the new tools. The process halted at the Audio Driver, said it couldn't be installed, and the whole process rolled back to a state where NO drivers were installed on the system. All subsequent reboots resulted in the same failure. The fix was to recover the .pmv file to an earlier state via Time Machine, and then change it's configuration before launching to one CPU, 1 Gb of RAM. The time rebooting after changing it back to 4 cpus and 2Gb of RAM resulted in a blue-screen, but subsequent reboots were OK.
