While using Parallels lately, I think since I installed build 3150, my computer (a MacBook Pro, Core 2 Duo) has been frequently locking up. It doesn't beachball; the whole operating system (the Mac OS and everything in it, not just the virtualized OSes) just stops responding for several seconds or minutes. I can move the cursor around, but nothing responds. Sometimes it starts responding again long enough to quit Parallels, but sometimes I've just had to force restart. Has anyone else had this problem?
If you can get this behavior repeatably, try running Activity Monitor first, and keep an eye on the stats on your MacBook. I have 3150 and Vista Ultimate, and commonly see CPU at or over 100% (which I think means for both cores, i.e. overall CPU utilization is around 50%). Everything gets Wicked Slow when this happens, exercising patience is called for <groan>.
I'm still having this problem as of 3188. By the way, I should mention that it doesn't only happen when I have a VM running. It sometimes even happens when I'm just in the configuration window.
I get this problem too! except for me, it doesn't do this at random, it only ever happens if Parallels is in focus (it's name is on the menu bar next to the blue Apple logo AND i click the Apple logo, point to Recent Items, and mount an SMB/CIFS server (not sure about other server types, all my network shares are on NTFS drives atm) from the list of recent servers there. i have no idea why it does this as it'll happily operate as normal if i have any other application in focus when i do the same operation, but it's irritating since i can cause the entire Mac to become completely unresponsive if i don't put another application in focus first, and i have to completely log out and log back in (if i can even manage to do so) for the system to work as normal again. apart from that, i'm really happy with Parallels and i can't wait for them to implement 3D support. Boot Camp screws up my display whenever i'm not booting into OS X and i have no idea why, so i cannot use that for now. :S
