I am currently running VMWare Fusion on a MACBook Pro with Windows 7. I am considering converting to Parallels, but cannot find any information about what is required. Do I have to uninstall everything and start over. Parallels's website is useless -- they don't seem interested in helping you unless you have purchased the product and paid for support. Thanks, Norm

It seems as if Parallels can convert a VMWare Fusion Virtual Machine. Just go to File>Open and select your VMWare machine (in Documents>VMWareFusion>). But the process did not work with mine (Guest: XP Professional). I had the same experience with trying to find support on the Parallels site. I wonder whether it's smart to switch from Fusion...

I've had a successful conversion from Fusion 3.1.2 to Parallels 6 (7 x64 VM). It's a couple step process and takes about as long as if you were copying the contents of your drive (so either short or very long). Once it's run in Parallels it'll uninstall the Vmware tools and install the Para tools and you'll be good to go.

Upgrade from VMWare - Performance Difference

I am considering upgrading to Parallels from VMWare (Windows 7 on MAC OS-X 10.6.6). Do people who have done this upgrade feel there is a performance improvement?

    Thanks,
    Norm
