I have purchased the upgrade to Parallels 6 in a desperate effort to get Parallels to stop /hanging/ and /crashing/ on my 2010 MacBookPro. It is still hanging and crashing with startup times (if I am lucky) of five to ten minutes. Is this normal?! I barely am able to use it anymore. MacBookPro with Windows 7 and am wondering if I need to go this route in troubleshooting. Do I need to now pay for this kind of technical assistance after having purchased 6 to try and get this software to stop HANGING AND CRASHING! Is it normal to have Parallels start - when it does - in Coherence Mode when I constantly set it to Window mode? Are people using this software on 2010 MacBookPros with the specifications below without any problems? Thanks, Jon -- | macbookpro | intel 2.53 ghz core 2 duo 4gb, nvidia geforce 9400m, OSX 10.6.3 with Win7 via Parallels 6
I have a similar spec machine and I, too, am having about 4 or 5 BSODs PER DAY. It's crazy. I installed v6 in the hope that it would stop my virtual machine crashing, but if anything it's made it worse! I'm tempted to go back to v5 but, to be honest, I don't have the time to spend a day trying to get this to work at the moment. I primarily use my W7 VM for .Net and Sql Server development. I really hope that the Parallels team are working hard on a patch/fix. A company this mature really shouldn't release software before it's been tested in full. Looks like I may have to go back to my desktop PC until a fix is released. Rubbish. Tom
Hi Tommy, also working on .net and same problem, between the tools install and now the bsod I spend more time on these problemes than on my project. 15 days nows that there was not any update, not any comminication of their staff and I'm thinking about insalling a pc too...
I have the same problem. New macbook pro. Parallels 5 installed, used once, for several minutes. Upgraded to 6. Went on a secure site to fill in a document using Explorer. Kapersky Virus that came with 6 was installed. Went absolutely NO WHERE dangerous using IE browser and 6. Next time I tried to use Windows XP/Parallels 6, it'll launch, stay open about 30 secs, then crash, then continue to restart all on it's own in the background unless I shut down the Mac. Parallels 6 has some bug in it. I tried downloading the update and it downloaded until it got to the Last file then wouldn't continue. The program is completely not market ready. I feel taken advantage of and I paid twice.
