Hello, I have Parallels Desktop for Mac 6 installed on a MacBook pro with the following specifications: 1. 3.06 Ghz Core II Duo 2. 8 GB RAM 3. 240 GB SSD (internal) 4. 500 GB H HD (internal) I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit VM setup on the SSD and have allocated 1 of the 2 cores and 4 GB of RAM. Also, Optimization is set for Faster Virtual Machine and Enable Adaptive Hypervisor and Tune Windows for Speed are both checked. The prl_vm_app continuously hogs all of the CPU resources for the core. Windows takes about 5 minutes to startup and is extremely sluggish once it does. The CPU utilization never decreases. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Parallels as well as the VM. I have tried assigning both cores to the VM, but this causes both cores to run between 95% and 100%. Does anyone have any suggestions to resolve the CPU issue with the VM? Thanks.
Same problem here... No virtual machine running, Parallels Desktop closed, but CPU running on process prl_vm_app around 80% ! Hopefully I check the cpu usage .... Anyone having same problem ? (Build 6.0.11826)
Interesting Update Hi, I played around with the configuration settings. I reduced the RAM available to the VM to 512 MB. Running on one core and the 512 MB of RAM, the CPU still pegs between 95% and 100%, but the OS (Windows 7) seems more responsive. The amount of virtual memory ends up being about 3.6 GB. Can anyone offer any insight into why this worked? Thanks.
