While I'm very pleased with the performance of Parallels 6 Desktop for Mac, I have to take issue with the Parallels 6 icon in the Applications folder and in the Dock, showing as it does an M$ Windoze flag. I'm no M$ Windoze user and I'm using Parallels only to run Unix/Linux type operating systems.

I wonder whether that eyesore icon can be replaced with a more neutral one, or whether Parallels could offer users a choice of icons?

When a virtual machine window is in front, The Parallels Desktop icon in the Dock shows the contents of the window (even if the virtual machine isn't running in which case you just see blank). When the Virtual Machine list window is in front, then you see the Windows 7 desktop picture / flag.

This feature is controlled by the Dock Icon option in the Parallels Desktop preferences. Parallels could offer users a choice of icons, or the icon could be based on the first virtual machine in the Virtual Machine list window.

But an application icon (shown in the Applications folder) is different than a dock icon. It's not meant to be changed. In that case the user could paste an icon on top in the Finder Get Info window.

I agree! I dont like the parallels icon. I think it should be impartial. In this case, comparing to Fusion or VBox, this makes me think that PD6 was made exclusively to run Win on Mac... I also use Linux on PD6 most of the times (although Parallels Tools is not the best thing I've seen...).

It should be an impartial icon. No guest-os's attached. No windows flag, no tux, no finder icon, no-nothing! Just the parallels bars or a fictional VM.

It's 100 times easier then posing on this forum:

    1) Command-click the app in the Dock to select it in the Finder.

    2) Command-I to Get Info

    3) Click on the icon (top left)

    4) Paste new icon
