I'm running Parallels 5 on a Mac Mini, OS X 10.6, with Time Machine (backup). I want to know if Version 6 fixes this problem:

I have a 12GB Windows XP image that works fine. I've turned on "Undo Disk" support, which means that every time I shut down Windows, all of my changes are discarded. This is a very handy feature that protects against viruses and other maladies that occur in Windows after using it for too long.

I am disappointed that Time Machine wants to back up my 12GB image every time I start Windows. Since I'm using undo disks, there should be nothing for Time Machine to back up.

Yes, I know that there is a "don't back up with Time Machine" option, but that isn't what I want. That will prevent the 12GB image from being backed up no matter what. I expected Parallels Desktop to be smart enough to make sure that the 12GB primary image is completely unmodified when undo disks are used. Time Machine would then not bother trying to back it up.

I would indeed think that when using Undo disks it would work similar to always running with a snapshot but after shutting down the VM the snapshot is deleted automatically without keeping any changes. I hope that Parallels will change this to ensure the time for the main file is not changed.

In the mean time, what if you indeed set it not to backup that file and instead just make a copy of your whole VM? Not exactly how you want it but would be a work-around.
