I'm trying to make backups on some of my virtual machines. When I copy the .pvm using Finder I get the following message: "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items." When I use terminal cp command to do the copy I get "cp: symlink: /private/tmp/34595/C: Permission denied". Everything gets copied except the alias ...Windows Disks/C.
Is there a recommended way to copy virtual machines?

Don't copy the Windows Disks folder in the .pvm or delete the Windows Disks folder before you copy the .pvm.

Actually, I found that the tar command works without giving the permissions error. Curious though, if I followed your advice would the restored VM work without the Windows Disks folder, or would I need to manually create it after the restore?

Also, the Mac Archive Utility seems to back up VMs without error messages. Compresses the backup too.
