I'm running Windows XP in Parallels. For the last couple years I've been unable to shut down Windows. I go to the Start Menu and choose Shut Down and I get the screen that says "Windows is shutting down", but it never does. The only way I can quit windows is to shut down the virtual machine with Parallels. I keep hoping a new version of Parallels will solve this but I'm now up to Version 6 with the same problem. Any ideas?
You need to look in your Windows logs, this is probably a Windows issue and not Parallels. Some driver or service isn't shutting down / terminating properly most likely.
