Ever since installing Parallels Desktop (PD) 6 when it came out last week, I have had nothing but issues with networking in Windows 7. Everything worked GREAT under PD5.

The issue is under PD6, when I take my machine home or try to connect to other wireless networks, Win7 does not seem to get the right notifications any more and you just can't get internet connectivity AT ALL. I worked through all the troubleshooting steps like uninstalling the network adapters. I reinstalled PD6 and that got my networking going at Home. Now I come to work and ZAP, the network is not working at work now. What a disappointment.

PD 6 needs to fix the issue so that Win7 gets the correct notifications so that it (win7) can pick the appropriate "network location" as your laptop moves from home/work/travel/etc.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

Im going to reinstall PD5 and wait. Hopefully I can get my money back for PD6.

Could you please click Start -> Run and execute cmd.exe. Type in the appeared window command "ipconfig /all". Then, without closing the window, click Parallels Destkop menu "Help"->"Report a Problem", send a problem report (it is not necessary to provide description) and post here the report ID?

If the issue will be seen by us, we will try to fix it as soon as possible.

Hi, Thanks for the quick reply. The problem ID is: 6632270

I find it interesting that my IP addresses are always in the 10.211.55.xxx range. It's like PD6 is using "shared" networking instead of the Bridged networking. I tried switching back and forth between various network settings and nothing seemed to work.

Oh yes, I was using the most up-to-date version of PD5 (don't have the number in front of me) but I always installed updates as they became available.

I'm having this same issue with both my XP and my Windows 7 VMs, both of which were working fine under Parallels 5, the last build released (9376, I think, as I don't have it on my machine anymore after the upgrade). What's weird is that I can ping www.google.com and it resolves it to the IP address and I get responses back, but I get cannot load this page errors in IE7/IE8 when I open up a browser as if DNS wasn't working. I originally had all my VMs on Shared Networking, so I changed them to bridged/default adapter and it still pulled the 10.211.x.x NAT address from the Shared networking. Release and renew did not get me a new IP from the network in bridged mode. I submitted a Problem Report as suggested by Elric for my XP VM and my Report ID is 6632393.

Sergio and Kerry, it seems that you've met just-discovered issue of Parallels Destktop 6.0 which wrongly decides that Parental Control is turned on. The issue will be fixed as soon as possible. Unfortunately so far there is no workaround.

Thanks, Elric. If there's no workaround at the moment, I'll downgrade to 5.0 until this issue is fixed, as I need those VMs on my domain.

    I'm still having this problem.

There's no network adapter available inside my Windows7 bootcamp VM.

Also I don't see anything that looks like a Parallels Tools Icon in my taskbar.

I already tried to reinstall the tools. Still the same....

    More details:

tools seem to work fine (except network and no taskbar icon). No network adapter available.
If I look into system manager I can see an Intel Pro/1000M Network Card with failure code 31 (driver not loadable).

    Made a report: ID 6643335

Thanks. I had to delete the network card and scan for new hardware. Now it's fine :)

    Parallels 6, Windows 7

I upgraded from XP to Windows 7 yesterday - networking fine on XP but no networking or sound on 7. (Leopard, Parallels 6, IMac Core2)

Has this issue been resolved yet?

Likely it is needed to reinstall Parallels Tools

How does one do that? I have a downloaded version 6. Can't seem to recall a separate tools file?

afair, this should do the trick: http://kb.parallels.com/en/4841

I can't remember though whether it is necessary to do the step with Add/Remove programs from the kb

I have the same problem as Wayne ... and note that he said "Windows 7", and there is NO "add/remove program" control panel ... and the "uninstall program" can't find any programs to remove!

After using the "uninstall program" procedure, however, the "Reinstall Parallels tools" item in the Virtual Machine menu was now enabled (it was greyed out before).
