    Hi,

Just upgraded to Parallels 6 on my mac book pro, snow leopard 10.6.4
    I have Win 7 - 64 installed on a bootcamp partition.
When ver.5 was installed, I was able to save files to shared folders of the mac HD,
because I chose to share VM profile including all folder options (documents, pictures, desktop and so).

Now, trying to save files to folders located inside my shared mac "documents" folder fails.
I tried deactivating "shared profile" and reactivating it.
Tried repair permissions of the mac HD.
I also tried to apply the "documents" folder permissions, which works OK, to sub folders
    that doesn't work as expected.
    Nothing helps.

Does anyone have a clue how to solve this?

    Thanks,

    Eran.

Are you sharing the home folder (Share Folders)?

Did you make sure you have folders configured for Shared Profile (Desktop, Documents, etc)?

Did you log off after selecting Shared Profile?

Do you see anything when you go to \\psf\ ? Parallels Shared Folders used to be \\.psf\

In an explorer window, right click Documents under Libraries and select Properties. Library Locations should have Documents (\\psf\Home) at the top and checked.

Did you try reinstalling Parallels Tools?

How does it fail? What is the error message?

I have same on my Mac OS X (v10.6.4) with Windows 7 on Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac (Build 6.0.11820).
I can save contents on Wordpad and Notepad. But I couldn't save on Microsoft Word/Excel/Powerpoint.
It is a shared folder on 'psf'. And there was no problem with Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac.

    Has anyone got any idea?

I noticed that the problem is just with Office documents like Word or Powerpoint.
Other programs I tested saves with no problem to these locations.
The strange thing is that as far as I notice, the problem is only with some specific folders
inside my shared mac "documents" folder. Specifically to "documents" it's ok but not to
    sub folders inside "documents".

When saving, I also get a message at the top of the browser that some library properties (of Office I guess)
are not available because of some library locations that are not supported... (I hope I'v translated it correctly).

All the default sharing options are on, so all folders, including home, are shared.
I have no problem browsing to psf folders.
Library Locations has Documents (\\psf\Home) at the top and it is checked.

Trying to save an Office documents just get stuck. It says that it is processing the saving but
    it doesn't complete the procedure.

Maybe I should just reinstall Office?

    Eran.

    Eran,

Is it possible that folder names you try to save to contain some european symbols like umlauts?

No, the names are simple and regular. As I mentioned, there was no problem in Parallels 5. It all started
    after upgrading to Parallels 6.

The library properties message is normal when you're using Shared Profile. Shared Profile adds the selected Parallels Shared Folders (stuff that's in \\psf\) to the various Windows 7 libraries (Documents, Music, etc). A library contains all the files from all the folders included in the library. One of the folders (the checked one) is designated as the destination for new files. Desktop and Downloads are implemented as shortcuts, not Libraries.

The library properties message is referring to the \\psf folders in the library because they look like network volumes. Network volumes can't normally be indexed so that's one feature that is not available.

    So, how to proceed?

Is there a way to solve the problems I mentioned:

    1. Trying to save MS Office files (only) to subfolders inside the shared mac "documents" folder fails to complete.
It worked OK under Parallels 5. The problem started after upgrading to Parallels 6.

    2. When saving, I also get a message at the top of the browser that some library properties
are not available because of some library locations that are not supported... this message
appeared only after upgrading to Parallels 6.

    Thanks,

    Eran.

Please upgrade to build 11822. With this version, you will be able to save files to shared folders from MS Office.

Are you running build 11822? Did you check the path and file name for special characters? Did you try different files or locations?

Did you try to transfer by dragging between the virtual machine and Mac OS? Try to use Parallels Shared Folder \\psf\ in the virtual machine to see if that works at least.

What happened when you tried each of the above? Error messages? Did you restart the computer?

Can you at least navigate to Parallels Shared Folders \\psf\ in Windows?

Check Task Manager and Services to see if Parallels Tools is running in Windows:

    Hi joevt,

Sorry for the minimal descriptions of my problems. I am going through methodically now. I was hoping it would just have been a known issue. The errors are different depending on the specific act of trying to copy files between systems. I will post that list soon. I did try a complete restart and reinstall of P6 tools. i can navigate to the \\psf\ folders but copy or move is not possible. The most common error is "Cannot locate file; check path and name"

I will check the Task Manager as suggested. I've not tried that yet.

    Aloha,
    mark

Problem was solved by uninstalling PT6 which (was not easy for some reason) and then reinstalling Parallels 6 with a fresh .dmg download.

I am thinking my first download of the P6 upgrade package may have had problems.
