I just upgraded to Parallels 6 (6.0.11820.602974). After install I rebooted my mac, and then launched Parallels and my winxp VM. Right after the window transitions from "bios" to full screen and windows says "starting windows" I immediately get a BSOD. I took a screen snapshot (attached). This occurs whether booting normal or in safe mode. I didn't change any settings from my Parallels 5 install. I suspected possibly the new 64-bit support, but didn't see any preferences or vm settings for disabling that. Can anyone offer advice how to debug and fix?

I had a bit more time to experiment today. I uninstalled Parallels 6, reinstalled Parallels 5, and everything runs fine. Install P6 and run the same VM, and it BSOD's while booting. Uninstall and downgrade to P5 and all works again.

I'm on MacOS 10.6.4 host, and booting Windows XP Pro 2002 SP3. The same VM image works fine on P5, but results in the previously attached BSOD while booting, every time.

Doubtful this is it, but might as well check it. My understanding is that with PD6 there is now SATA available. Just in your configuration for your boot drive in HD (HardDisk 1 most likely) to see if it is set to IDE or to SATA. If set to SATA then change it to IDE and see if it now boots.

If it does, then see my post from today in the "Installation" forum on how to get it back to SATA by getting the driver installed in Windows first. Step by step are in this post.

    See installation and configuration forum

There is a BSOD thread going on over in "Installation and Configuration on MacOS" forum.
