In particular, I would like to know if they addressed sharing a running Windows VM across different Mac user logins. Or at least put back in some protection to prevent a user from trying to start a VM if it's already running in another user space.
I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but there's an option to share VM with other local Mac users - the default is turned off. Haven't looked to see where this option is for an existing VM, but it's there when you create a new one. Enhancement.. the Linux Addon Tools are fast as hell (Ubuntu/Linux Mint). Was never terribly slow before, but now they just scream - UI is as fast as the Mac UI. Typing, responsiveness, all of the fancy compiz/compositing stuff works, etc. Haven't tried Windows yet.

Interesting. If that means running VM that would be great. I wonder, though, if it just automates setting the file permissions so it can be shared but not concurrently. Can anyone shed more light? I'm not planning on shelling out for the upgrade unless I know this issue with running VMs has been addressed.
The option just creates the VM in the /Users/Shared/Parallels folder with the read/write permissions of all the files and folders enabled for everyone. I agree especially if it's true that attempting to do so will irreparably damage the VM because there is no way for a user to know if another user is using it. Which part are you reading? The switcher part is about people moving from PC to Mac. I think the only way to share the same VM concurrently between two users is to run the VM as a third user that both other users can switch too.
Thanx for clarifying. Your answer about setting permissions and putting it in the share folder is just what I meant when I surmised that it might be automating the permissions. That used to be a manual (and maybe undocumented) procedure BTW, to be fair, the damage is repairable with a full Mac reboot. No data corruption occurs on disk. Still a big pain though.
Sound - Immerse yourself in games, movies, and music with surround sound 5.1 support for Windows 7, Windows XP, and Windows Vista: use any external surround sound 5.1 USB or FireWire devices simultaneously in your Mac and the virtual machine. Does this mean firewire audio devices are supported now? Really don't care much about surround sound, but firewire audio recording interfaces.. hazzah!!
