I've been using build 1970 since it was available without any problems (running Windows XP).

When I install build 3120, my VM hangs in booting, I get the XP boot spash screen, then just a black screen. The window has not resized to the full monitor size yet.

What's going on? How do I resolve this?

    thanks.

Was your Windows VM off or suspended when you upgraded? Do you have a safe backup of the VM? Did you follow the installation instructions for the version you installed? Did you reboot the Mac after installing 3120? Can you open the Mac system monitor and see what memory and CPU are doing while Windows is starting?

How much RAM do you have installed? How much RAM has been assigned to Parallels? How much RAM has been allocated to your VM?

The XP VM was off when I upgraded.
I do have a backup copy, although re-installing 1970 and running the VM it worked fine, so no VM file damage.
The installation instructions are pretty basic, it did not say to reboot after installation, so I did not reboot my Mac Pro.
Mac system monitor showed small amounts of activity (up to 5%), and the parallels disk activity and network activity icons would occassionally flash. I did not check memory usage with the activity monnitor
I have 8GB RAM in my Mac Pro. 1484MB assigned to the VM, 1584MB to parallels. I just upped this to 2048MB.

    thanks.

Retried 3120. Same results, black screen hang.

The Windows XP start up sound did play. In 1970 I have the desktop by the time the startup sound finishes. Could windows be having problems with the display? I didn't change anything here between builds, but it could be actually booted but just not able to display the desktop, hard to tell. CPU activity is about 6%, memory usage for Parallels is about 250MB, 17 threads running... this is close to 1970 when it's running XP with no tasks running, 1970 memory usage is a little bit less, e.g., 215MB vs 250MB, but otherwise similar.

I am having the same problem and the same results on my MacPro, and I've been having it for the last 3 or 4 builds. My VM running Windows 2000 starts without the black screen. Build 1970 works fine.

    A few hours later...

I was having problems with my Kensington Expert Mouse not working, but now that I solved that, the black screen has gone away.
