I am wondering if anyone has been successful using AutoCad and trying to plot to an HP plotter from the VM either as a directly connected or network plotter. This is the final thing that I have to get running before I switch the office over to the Mac, and plotting has to work for me to do this.

Any experiences from other architect or designers would be helpful.

    Thanks

I am a inustrial designer using AutoCAD with in Parallels, how is the Plotter connected? I have not tried to plot using a plotter but it seams most people have the best luck using printers via USB. you could always plot to file (PDF post script) then print from Acrobat.

A question for you. how do stand the dual cursor hovering over the cross hairs while drafting in AutoCAD? I have posted a thread to address the issue but still have not found a way around it. Maybe I am being picky but I feel the need to be able to only see the crosshairs and not have another pointer hovering over it.

I use Rhino without any problems but I don't yet have my older HP pen plotter attached. It is a serial port plotter and I do have a USB/Serial adapter that works well with a modem. My bigger problem is I don't have a driver for the HP plotter. I'd like to use it as a vinyl cutter.

    rcarver,

There was a thread awhile back about the double cursor and I can't quite remember how they resolved it. I followed the procedure and all I have is the cross hair. It had to do with setting the acceleration down one notch or something like that. I just can't remember. I'll try to look it up and get back to you on this thread if I find it. In the meantime you may want to do a search for 'cursor' or Autocad in this forum. You will probably find it.

    rcarver,

I found the thread and this is what it said-

Please, try to disable mouse cursor acceleration with "Winows Display Settings" -> "Advanced" -> "TroubleShoot" -> "Hardware Acceleration" -> "One less then Full".
Does this fix the "double mouse" thing ?

    Regards,
    Max

I don't have the problem any more so this is what I must have done. Hope it works!

David1966 moving the bar down one notch in the Advanced menu worked like a charm. no more double pointer and it seems that my VM is running smoother now as well. you are a life saver.

    thanks again.

    AutoCad Plotter

I have gotten Autocad 2005 LT to work fine on Parallels with MAC OSX 10.4. My problem is I can not get my HP Plotter to work. I have installed Bonjour for Windows and I can print to a laserjet and inkjet from within AutoCad but I can not print to my plotter.

    HELP!!!!!!!
