    Hello,

Just upgrading to v5 from v4..

Is it possible to find out exactly what the configuration setting "Tune Windows for Speed" actually does to the guest OS? I like to tweak my OS's and would like to know if my tweaking is working with or against this setting.

    thanks in advance,

    chris

As far as I know it removes the Windows 7 startup logo so startup is a bit faster.

    downside of Tuning for Speed

Another thing which "Tune Windows for Speed" does, is prevent the Windows Superfetch service from running. This is the successor to prefetch, which caches your data and applications for faster response. So it seems quite counter-intuitive to have this Parallels option turning off the Windows feature which is supposed to speed things up.
I hope that there is some corresponding operation which Parallels employs to offset the reduction in Windows functionality.
